COVID-19 has had lasting impacts across many industries. Not least of all, beloved professional sport.
We conducted a study in the UK gauging general views on the Coronavirus, football preferences and opinions on what should come next for the English Premier League 19/20 Season.

Should football be suspended right now?
Despite football’s undoubted popularity in the heart and minds of the UK population and the fact it’s more than a game to many, we are pleased that the vast majority are in favour of suspension of the football calendar, recognising that the health of the nation needs to come first.
What should happen to the teams?
There’s a lot of empathy for Liverpool, nailed on to secure their first league title in 30 years before the virus hit. 34% of fans believe that regardless of its formal completion, Liverpool should still be awarded the 19/20 season.
Fans old enough to remember just how long it’s been are particularly in favour (51%), whereas the youngest generation of adult fans are less supportive in handing out the title (23%).
Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Norwich City, all on track to be relegated, could be saved by the court of public opinion with 35% feeling that no team should be relegated if it is never played out.
What should happen to the 19/20 season?
If we get the all clear in time, the majority want the season to finish. This is more pronounced amongst male fans with 72% keen for the season to be completed, compared with 57% of female fans.
This leaves only a few options about what to do next: determine a way to play the remaining games, finish the season as it stands now or abandon this and leave a start fresh next year, leaving a gaping hole in the history books of the 19/20 Season.
There’s a real dichotomy between the youngest and oldest fans with a huge 43% of 65+ fans strongly opposed to voiding the season compared with only 17% of 18-24 year olds who appear happier to consign the current season to history.
